Pauline Van Geenen was one of Mme Lizinska de Mirbel's best students. A very talented portrait painter, she exhibited at the salon from 1840 to 1846 and received a medal. In this painting the imprint of De Mirbel is strong, undoubtedly equal to the teacher in technical quality.
