Portrait of General Jean François Berruyer (1738 -1804) to the left on a black background. Oval miniature painted on ivory, signed and dated at the bottom, surrounded by gilded metal.
A student of Vincent, then of Charles Bourgeois, Flesselles executed very expressive portraits in profile on ivory.
In this portrait where the influence of Bourgeois is marked, the technical quality of the student equals that of the master.
