A precious portrait by Jean Baptiste Isabey (1767–1855) on paper signed and dated: "Isabey 1824".
This young man with blue eyes is identified on the back of the portrait. This is Baron Joachim-François Philibert Julien de Feisthamel (1791 –1851) a French soldier and entomologist. This identification is confirmed by the painting by Élisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun (1755 –1842), see photo n°5.
Jean-Baptiste Isabey, the most famous miniaturist of the French school, this is well described by the writer Charles-Otto Zieseniss: "Une merveilleuse habileté, une grande puissance de travail, une urbanité enjouée, beaucoup d’intelligence, d’imagination, de goût et un talent exceptionnel, telles furent les qualités de cet homme"
